Rolex Unveils New Creations at Watches & Wonders 2024

All eyes were on the Rolex booth at Watches & Wonders 2024, where the brand’s latest unveilings at the world’s premier watch fair were eagerly anticipated. Attendees were not disappointed: beloved iconic models received refreshing updates with new materials, colors, and textures, underscoring Rolex’s commitment to evolution while maintaining uncompromising quality in every detail.

A standout from the showcase is the first GMT-Master II in Oystersteel to feature a 24-hour graduated two-color Cerachrom bezel insert in grey and black ceramic. Introduced to the GMT-Master II collection last year in a two-tone Oystersteel and 18-ct yellow gold model, this muted color contrast subtly evokes the transition between day and night.

The Oystersteel GMT-Master II is available in two versions: one with an Oyster bracelet and the other with a Jubilee bracelet. Both are housed in a 40 mm case and powered by the calibre 3285, a cutting-edge movement that displays hours, minutes, seconds, dates, and an additional time zone in a 24-hour format. The models feature a black lacquer dial inscribed with “GMT-Master II,” with the green triangle-tipped 24-hour hand adding a striking design element and a reminder of the emotions that accompany the traveler.

Rolex’s precise watchmaking skill and attention to detail are showcased in the four new novelties of this collection. Two of the novelties come in a 40 mm case, with one encased in 18-ct Everose gold featuring a new “slate ombre” dial that transitions from colored in the center to black at the edge, described as “a symphony of shade” by Rolex. The second Day-Date 40 is in white gold with a white mother-of-pearl dial, a first for the model.

The other two Day-Date novelties feature a smaller 36 mm case. One is in 18-ct yellow gold with a white lacquer dial, and the other in 18-ct Everose gold with a new blue-green dial. The latter’s bezel is adorned with 60 trapeze-cut diamonds, a new addition to the model.

A dress watch inspired by one of the first Rolex timepieces fitted with the Perpetual rotor has been upgraded to the brand’s most prestigious category. Now featuring a 39 mm 950 platinum case and an ice blue dial, it showcases a guilloche rice-grain motif with a filet sauté pattern surrounding the minute track. The dial’s intricate design highlights Rolex’s tribute to the classic art of watchmaking infused with modern know-how and creativity. The new 1908 model retains the same Arabic numerals (three, nine, and 12), faceted hour markers, and hands as the 18-ct gold models, mounted on a brown alligator leather strap with a Dualclasp.

The Rolex Deepsea is now available in 18-ct yellow gold for the first time. This model features a 60-minute graduated Cerachrom bezel insert in blue ceramic, a blue lacquer dial stamped with “DEEPSEA” in yellow, and a high-performance compression ring within its Ringlock system made of ceramic. This new Cerachrom compression ring enhances the watch’s waterproofness and anti-deformation properties.

Two new precious interpretations of the Cosmograph Daytona have been introduced. One features a white mother-of-pearl dial with black mother-of-pearl chronograph counters, paired with an Oysterflex bracelet. The other has the same color combination in reverse and is worn with an Oyster bracelet. Both models are housed in a 40 mm case crafted in 18-ct white gold, crowned with a bezel set with 36 brilliant-cut diamonds, and powered by the calibre 4131, a state-of-the-art movement adorned with Rolex Cotes de Geneve and a cut-out oscillating weight.

For the first time, the Sky-Dweller, a 42 mm timepiece designed for global travelers, is paired with a Jubilee bracelet in precious metal. Available in two versions—one in 18-ct Everose gold with a slate dial, and the other in 18-ct yellow gold with an intense white dial—the Jubilee bracelets feature an Oysterclasp and ceramic inserts inside the links, like most Rolex bracelets made from precious materials. Powered by the calibre 9002, the Sky-Dweller displays hours, minutes, seconds, dates, months, and an additional time zone in a 24-hour format.
