On May 6th, 2023, the Coronation of His Majesty The King and Her Majesty The Queen Consort took place at Westminster Abbey. The Archbishop of Canterbury conducted the service, which was designed to reflect the Monarch's present-day role and future outlook while preserving time-honored traditions and grandeur.
The Coronation Weekend presented numerous other occasions for individuals to unite in commemoration of this historical event. On May 7th, 2023, a unique Coronation Concert was hosted at Windsor Castle and broadcast live by the BBC and BBC Studios. Several thousand pairs of tickets were made available to the general public through a public ballot.
On the same date, the Coronation Big Lunch invited neighbors and communities throughout the country to come together and share food and fun. Additionally, on May 8th, 2023, members of the public were invited to participate in The Big Help Out, an initiative aimed at encouraging individuals to try volunteering and support their local communities.
Their Majesties The King and The Queen Consort hoped that the Coronation Weekend would provide an opportunity for people to spend time together and celebrate with friends, families, and communities throughout the United Kingdom, the Realms, and the Commonwealth. Throughout 2023, Their Majesties looked forward to commemorating this significant event with the public.
